The Fourth Annual Witches Paddle in Ventura Harbor was a great success. This spooky event was innocently started by some fun loving lady paddlers who decided to paddle the harbor with witch costumes for Halloween . Because it is so much fun, the idea has grown each year.
The docks and large parking lots make it easy to bring your own board and, if you don’t have one, it is easy to rent paddle boards, kayaks, boats, paddle boats, and even paddle swans at the harbor. There are literally hundreds of floating items to rent. Whether for the Witches Paddle or for a fun outing , the paddle boats and animals are such an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
Ventura’s warm fall climate and entertaining times in the harbor have become well known. It was amazing to see all the Halloween paddle boards emerge at the docks near Ventura Boat Rentals. Though mostly locals, the event in a short time has grown to attract participants and viewers from around the globe.
Here are some photos from past witches paddles and from yesterday
Witch fashion has become big at this paddle event creating a huge variety of color and creativity.
Though there were many black costumes and witch hats that made for spectacular viewing, the bright colored costumes were quite amazing as well. See more photos and video below.
Here are some costumes you can have delivered to your door

It may seem an odd way to build a road, but back in the 1910s when we were still figuring out this whole idea of motoring around the countryside, a wooden parkway probably wasn’t so crazy. This is the Rincon Parkway, which formed part of California’s State Route 1 – the glorious coastal drive between […]

I feel a chill cross my back, as I climb the floral carpeted staircase to the third floor. I feel another one as I cross a sitting area and make a left into the hotel’s corridor. The hallway is dim. The dark, burgundy walls are illuminated by tired daylight shining through the window of what…
